Scaffolding Safety...
 
  • All persons erecting, altering or dismantling a scaffold where a person of object can fall 4 metres or more must be the holder of a certificate of competency.
  • Any scaffold where a person can fall 2 metres or more, must be fitted with a guardrail, midrail and toeboard.
  • Do not come closer than 5 metres to unprotected power lines or electrical equipment.
  • Before any job is commenced:
    • Identify all hazards
    • Assess the risk
    • Take action to control the risk
  • Aluminium scaffolds have a load limit of 225kg per bay.
  • Mobile and freestanding scaffolds must maintain a 3:1 height to base ratio.
  • Towers must be secured during high winds (Over 11-16 knots, 20-28 K.P.H.).
  • Use safe work practices when lifting scaffold equipment and moving scaffolding.
  • Do not put ladders, steps, boxes, etc. on top of a scaffold to increase its height.
  • Do not move a mobile scaffold with people of materials on it.
  • Always climb on the inside of a scaffold. Never of the outside.
  • Read the erection instruction sheet.
